Hello, I'm Ash!
I'm the florist, creative, dog-walker, beach-wanderer and general maker-of-things behind In The Meadow.
I create natural, colourful wedding flowers for couples across Cumbria, Lancashire, North Yorkshire and southern Scotland — from relaxed bouquets and flower-filled tables to big, slightly ridiculous floral installations.
I've always been a maker. Long before I was making wedding flowers, I was the kid who wanted to be doing something with my hands — knitting, sewing, printing, making things and generally turning whatever I could find into something else. I went on to study Art & Design at college, and although I didn't know it at the time, that creative background has ended up shaping so much of what I do now.
I'm happiest playing with colour, texture and shape and figuring out how to make everything work together without it feeling too perfect. I love flowers with movement, a bit of wildness and that lovely feeling of having just been gathered from a garden.
I'm also a bit of a deep thinker and a big feeler. I'm the kind of person who notices things, cares deeply and will probably overthink something long after everyone else has moved on. But I think that part of me is also a huge part of why I love what I do. I genuinely care about the people I work with, and I care about all the little things that can make the difference between something simply looking beautiful and it actually feeling like you.

That also means I want the experience of working together to feel good — not like another thing to organise, worry about or get “right”. Weddings can be stressful enough without your florist adding to it, so I want to make the whole process is as relaxed, straightforward and enjoyable as I possibly can. I'll listen, I'll guide you when you need it, I'll notice the things you might not have thought about yet, and I'll be in your corner from our first conversation right through to the big day.
When I'm not surrounded by flowers, you'll usually find me outside somewhere. Woodland walks with the dog, trips to the beach and generally being anywhere I can get some fresh air are my happy places.
I'm a massive animal lover too, and if money, time and common sense weren't factors, I'd almost certainly have a smallholding full of whatever animals I could convince my husband we definitely needed.
I'm also a huge believer in people being able to show up as themselves. Whoever you are, whoever you love and whatever your version of a wedding looks like, you're welcome here. I want In The Meadow to feel like a safe, friendly space where you can bring your ideas, your excitement, your indecision and your “I have absolutely no idea where to start” moments without feeling judged.
Well... probably not quite what you'd expect from someone who spends her days making flowers for fancy occasions.
Yes, I create beautiful things and I want your wedding flowers to feel really special. I care about the little details, I love making things look bloody gorgeous and I take what I do seriously.
But I'm also very down to earth, I'm not particularly demure, and I'm much more comfortable chatting to you like a normal human than pretending we're at a very formal business meeting.
For me, weddings can be beautiful without being stuffy. They can feel special without feeling like a performance. And that's how I want the experience of working with me to feel too.
I'll get to know you, listen to what you actually want — even if you don't quite know how to explain it yet — help you make decisions when there are approximately 847 Pinterest boards involved, and use my experience and creative eye to turn all those ideas into something that feels like you. Because ultimately, your wedding flowers don't need to look like anyone else's. They just need to make you look at them and think: “Yep. That's so us.”
